Bandwagon Riding - Week 8

Writer's picture: Fantasy Football FellowshipFantasy Football Fellowship

As is always the case, the NFL regular season is filled with players who surprised the experts by how well  they played.

So how should you respond to these surprising performances? Should you jump on the bandwagon or allow the opportunity to pick up these players pass you by.

Our fantasy coaches, Trip Smith and Bryce Johnson, share their thoughts below.

The season is heating up, and this week, we’ve got some under-the-radar names to watch, along with a few seasoned vets making waves. If you're wondering who to pick up or keep on your roster, check out the latest bandwagons we're riding and see who might give your lineup a boost.

On the Bandwagon: Calvin Ridley (WR, Titans)

The Titans may be struggling, but Calvin Ridley is still a fantasy asset. With DeAndre Hopkins out of the picture and the Titans facing one of the league's easiest schedules against wide receivers for the rest of the season, Ridley’s workload is likely to spike. He may have some off weeks, but expect some big games ahead, with Ridley seeing high target volume as the only reliable option in the Titans’ passing game.

  • Verdict: Ride the Ridley bandwagon and hold tight through the ups and downs—he’s going to be hyper-targeted.

On the Bandwagon: Jaylen Coker (WR, Panthers)

While Carolina’s offense has been a disappointment, Jaylen Coker is emerging as a sneaky value pickup. Coker was praised by NFL veteran Steve Smith, who labeled him his favorite receiver to watch this draft season. If you’re looking for a stash with potential PPR upside, Coker could deliver 12-15 points in certain matchups, making him worth a look.

  • Verdict: Add him if you’re in a deeper league or need WR depth. His ceiling isn’t high yet, but he has the potential to contribute.

On the Bandwagon: Cade Otton (TE, Buccaneers)

If you’re hurting for a tight end, Cade Otton is a name to grab. He’s shown consistency, and with Baker Mayfield gaining trust in him, he’s likely to keep seeing targets. With Tampa Bay’s wide receivers rotating week-to-week, Otton stands as a reliable target, especially near the end zone. Currently ranked TE6, he’s been solid and is still available in many leagues.

  • Verdict: Jump on the Otton bandwagon—he’s consistent, and Tampa Bay’s offense will continue to rely on him.

On the Bandwagon: Sam LaPorta (TE, Lions)

Lions’ tight end Sam LaPorta has found his rhythm. After some middling performances, he’s back on track with a touchdown and nearly 19 fantasy points last week. If you were considering benching him, think again; LaPorta is getting back to the form that made him a must-start early in the season. With Jameson Williams sidelined, he’ll continue seeing solid usage.

  • Verdict: Keep LaPorta in your lineup, and don’t look back. The LaPorta bandwagon is rolling strong!
